Natalie’s Healthy Kitchen Independent report · implementation brief Back to report

Public website evidence · checked 2 October 2026

Repair the order path.
Then make the offer easy to find.

A practical brief for Natalie or her website editor: three redirect rules, proposed page metadata, a reusable menu page and a measurement checklist.

This is proposed implementation copy. No changes have been made to Natalie’s website. English pages below already exist; every Portuguese path below is a proposal and should be published only after a complete, reviewed European Portuguese translation.

The verified offer is three recipes for four people: 12 portions every other Monday, subject to announced seasonal breaks. Customers cook the ingredients. Current public prices are €71 vegetarian / €76 mixed for a one-time bag, or €68.87 / €73.72 per new subscription bag every two weeks. Mixed means two vegetarian recipes and one fish or seafood recipe. These are observations on 2 October, not a future price commitment. Live shop, vegetarian product, mixed product.

First implementation pass

Restore these three routes with permanent redirects.

All three old URLs returned 404 during the audit. Add these exact lines to Squarespace’s URL mappings, keeping any existing unrelated mappings:

/our-bags -> /our-meal-kits 301
/our-bags/p/vegetarian-bag -> /our-meal-kits/p/vegetarian-bag 301
/our-bags/p/mixed-bag -> /our-meal-kits/p/mixed-bag 301

Also replace the old shop link on Delivery area and both old product links on the existing Lisbon landing page. New internal links should point straight to the live destinations.

Check each old address returns HTTP301 and reaches its matching HTTP200 destination without a loop or unnecessary redirect chain. The original route must remain inactive for Squarespace mappings to apply. Squarespace URL mappings; Google redirect guidance.

Choose one authoritative first-order discount and reconcile home, shop, FAQ and checkout; the audit found 10% and 15% messages. Remove the stale €61 product illustration. Keep changing prices in the commerce data and visible text rather than baked into artwork.

Suggested title and description fields

Five useful pages, with clear local intent.

Paste these into each page’s SEO title and description fields, and give each page one clear main heading. Verify the rendered title: a site-wide brand suffix should not duplicate the brand. Keep the existing English URLs. Price-bearing descriptions must be updated whenever the actual commerce price changes.

The delivery map supports the Lisbon–Oeiras–Cascais corridor with some inland coverage; it does not establish delivery everywhere in Sintra or Ericeira. Publish a confirmed postcode/locality list before claiming precise coverage. The delivery descriptions below assume that list is added. Google can select different titles and snippets: title guidance, description guidance.

After genuine translation

Each language needs a complete, usable page.

  1. Translate the full page, menus, product choices, order instructions, help and policy links. Review European Portuguese with a fluent editor. A translated navigation alone is insufficient.
  2. Publish each Portuguese equivalent as a public HTTP200 page with lang="pt-PT". Use lang="en" on the English pages. Give each page its own canonical; a Portuguese page should not canonical to its English equivalent.
  3. Add the same reciprocal hreflang="en" and hreflang="pt-PT" pair to both equivalents, including each page itself. Use absolute HTTPS URLs on the preferred www host. Match equivalent pages, not every page to the Portuguese homepage.
  4. Link languages visibly and keep user choice available. Add translated URLs to the sitemap only when live. Do not announce nonexistent Portuguese pages in hreflang. An optional x-default may identify a real default-language selector or default page.

If Squarespace’s language tooling cannot emit these signals reliably, resolve the supported implementation before publishing a large translation set. Google localized-page guidance; canonical guidance.

Measure qualified demand

Connect discovery to retained, profitable customers.

  1. Baseline: confirm access to Natalie’s Search Console property; submit/check the actual sitemap. Export the previous 28 days by page, query, country and device. Separate brand queries from nonbrand discovery. Search Console does not establish postcode eligibility; measure that in the customer journey.
  2. Indexing: inspect home, shop, both products, delivery and the restored menu. Check crawl access, the indexed version and Google-selected canonical, then use a live test after repairs. Request indexing for materially improved pages; it does not guarantee inclusion or timing. Review /home, thin tag archives and the named error page separately.
  3. Conversion events: verify product views, add-to-cart, checkout starts, completed orders and successful eligibility checks in the existing consent-aware analytics. Reconcile purchases against actual commerce orders and deduplicate by transaction ID. Track digital/pickup/delivery separately only if those products launch.
  4. Qualified area: count enquiries and first orders inside the confirmed route, with route capacity available. Report border/unserved requests separately; do not interpret overseas recipe visits as delivery demand. Use broad area labels or eligibility flags in analytics, never full addresses, customer names or private recipe/customer data.
  5. Retention: follow first-order cohorts through a second paid delivery and a stated 60-day window, adjusting interpretation for announced seasonal breaks. Count cancellations, missed cycles and refunds. A first-order discount signup alone is not a retained subscriber.
  6. Contribution: record sales less actual variable food, packing, payment, delivery and servicing costs by product and route. Compare retained contribution with acquisition/content effort over a defined payback window; track overhead and owner compensation separately. Gross sales alone cannot establish SEO profitability.
  7. Review: compare rolling 28-day periods, showing absolute counts alongside rates. Log pricing, menu, holiday and delivery-capacity changes. Keep a page/change log so improvements can be assessed without claiming causation from a tiny sample.

No search volume, traffic baseline, ranking position, conversion rate or projected revenue was measured in this audit. Set numerical growth targets after obtaining the baseline and confirming capacity. The immediate controllable target is zero broken commercial links and one consistent current offer.

Google URL Inspection; Search Console performance report. These reports inform the checklist; cohort contribution and eligibility are business measurements, not metrics supplied by Google.

Before calling the pass complete

A small release checklist.

Keep this brief alongside the editor’s change log. Start with the redirect/menu/offer repairs, then translate and publish selected samples when the business can fulfil the resulting demand.
